The Wordbridge Writers’ Society of Lethbridge is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting writers, strengthening creative connections, and fostering a thriving literary community in Southern Alberta and beyond. Through our annual conference, writing groups, workshops, creative challenges, community initiatives, and other year-round opportunities, we create welcoming spaces for writers at every stage of their journey to learn, connect, create, and grow. There are many ways to get involved!

At the heart of our programming is the annual Wordbridge Writers’ Conference—our flagship two-day celebration of writing and the literary arts in Lethbridge, Alberta. Our conference brings together writers, authors, editors, publishers, and other industry professionals for presentations, workshops, panel discussions, and opportunities to connect. Sessions explore everything from traditional and independent publishing to genre writing, poetry, editing, marketing, craft, and more.

Conference attendees can also take part in opportunities such as the Shared Authors’ Table, Drabble Competitions, Blue Pencil Cafés, Live Action Slushes, networking spaces, and other activities designed to bring writers together. Whether you’re discovering your voice, developing your craft, building a writing career, or sharing years of experience with others, Wordbridge is a place to find community. Wordbridge doesn’t end when the conference does! Our year-round programming offers writers opportunities to write together, develop their craft, participate in creative challenges, attend events, and contribute to literary and community projects throughout the year. As our society continues to grow, so will the ways writers can connect, participate, and help shape what Wordbridge becomes next.

Live-Action Slush
During our Live-Action Slush, you’ll have the chance to submit the first page of your story to our panelists for a live critique of what works and what doesn’t.

Workshops
Get hands-on with our interactive workshops designed to sharpen your writing skills and deepen your craft. Led by professionals, these sessions offer practical tools and personalized guidance for writers of all levels.

Blue Pencil Cafés
Fifteen minutes of free one-on-one feedback from a professional editor on your first three pages (~750 words). Please submit double-spaced in 12pt. font by the annual deadline: March 18.

Panels
Join dynamic panel discussions featuring 3–4 experts sharing insights, experiences, and lively conversation on all things writing and publishing. It’s a chance to learn from diverse voices and ask the questions that matter most to you.

Drabble Contest
Write and submit a one-hundred-word story that includes the conference’s annual theme. Top three winners will receive a prize bundle! For 2027, submissions open February 1 and close March 12. Must be a ticket holder and attend conference to participate.
