About the SAT
Are you an author attending Wordbridge? The Shared Authors’ Table (SAT) gives eligible ticket holders, presenters, and panelists a simple way to display and sell their books throughout the Conference. We use one online registration and Square-based sales tracking, so there are no forms to print and no handwritten sales sheets to reconcile.
How it works
- Confirm you are eligible. You must hold a valid Conference ticket or be registered with Wordbridge as a presenter, panelist, or volunteer.
- Submit the online SAT Registration Form and the SAT Inventory Form at least ten calendar days before the conference. This includes your RSVP, book registration, shift availability, e-transfer information, and agreement acceptance.
- Check your books in at the beginning of the conference at the Shared Authors’ Table. A volunteer will confirm your opening inventory in Square.
- You may register up to five distinct sale items, with no more than five copies of each item at the table at one time. A different format, edition, or price point counts as a separate sale item.
- Only physical books that you wrote, co-wrote, illustrated, edited, or are otherwise authorized to sell may be included. Other merchandise is not accepted.
- If an official on-site bookseller is carrying a title, that title may not also be sold at the SAT.
- Prices must be in Canadian dollars and must be the full customer-facing price, including any tax you are responsible for.
- Bundles, discounts, and price changes require approval before the registration deadline and must have their own Square item.
- Do not remove SAT inventory for panels, readings, signings, or personal sales unless a designated volunteer records the change first. Bring separate copies for those activities.
- When one copy of an item remains, you may replenish it to a maximum of five copies through a designated volunteer so the additional stock is recorded in Square.
- Work your assigned two-hour shift during the conference. This shared model ensures everyone has the chance to display their work and connect with readers while keeping things running smoothly. You’ll be able to select your anticipated slot during registration and you may be able to change the time if needed. Experienced volunteers will be on site to manage the Square sales and digital devices.
Sales, fees, and payment
Every SAT sale is recorded through Wordbridge’s Square system, including any cash transaction Wordbridge chooses to accept. Authors may not opt out of Square tracking or arrange side sales from SAT inventory.
Wordbridge deducts a flat 3.00% fee from the customer-facing amount actually received for your books after discounts, refunds, reversals, and chargebacks. The fee covers payment processing and SAT administration. There is no fee if you make no sales, and there is no additional routine SAT fee.
After the Conference, you will receive an itemized statement showing quantities sold, sales, the 3.00% fee, and your net payout. Payment is sent by Interac e-Transfer to the email in your registration by the end of the following calendar week.
If e-transfer is a problem, contact us through the Wordbridge contact form before the registration deadline. Any alternate arrangement must be approved.
Register
Deadline: Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time ten calendar days before the conference. We cannot accept walk-ins or event-week additions.
